American Meteorological Society

When I was in high school, I rechartered a dormant American Meteorological Society Chapter to serve the New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia areas. In order to create this new group, I recruited members to sign a charter recognized by the AMS. At first, I handled all social media and most programming for a chapter consisting of middle and high school students. Later, I selected and trained an executive board in order to increase membership, develop a chapter website and poster. The pandemic presented an obstacle for our chapter but I was able to seamlessly transition to virtual events during the COVID pandemic. My chapter was recognized by the AMS with honorable mention for the 2021 Chapter of the Year. I served as an adviser for this chapter during my college summers, providing guidance and programming ideas. They have returned to in person events and added a discord to stay in touch regularly. At Penn State, I was also a member of PSUBAMS and regularly attended meetings and programs to enhance my knowledge of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science.

Now as an early career professional. I have continued my involvement in the American Meteorological Society as a member of the Local Chapter Affairs Committee (LCAC). This group’s goal is to guide regular and student chapters, increase involvement on the local and national AMS stage and provide resources to help all chapters remain committed to their members. Shown here are some memorable experiences I shared with my rechartered AMS chapter, fellow PSUBAMS students, early career professionals and at the 2025 and 2026 AMS National Conferences.
