“Spot-on Weather offered valuable experience analyzing meteorological data, satellite imagery, and historical weather patterns.”
In the summer of 2023, my professional internship with Spot-on Weather, a company focused on creating forecasts for the TV and film production industries, offered valuable experience analyzing meteorological data, satellite imagery, and historical weather patterns. Working independently and remotely, I provided daily forecasts directly to producers within tight deadlines. Production teams relied on my ability to provide accurate information to help them avoid costly delays due to weather. I had the added challenge of predicting information about the Canadian wildfires with respect to how they would affect outdoor film production. Next, I also had to warn a team in Oklahoma to stop filming and seek shelter due to potentially tornadic activity in the region. In this position, I also researched past weather and created detailed forensic weather reports. This experience showcased my ability to work effectively on my own to utilize data and deliver accurate information as an employee of a private firm. I currently work here as a Freelance Operational Meteorologist, providing the same accurate forecasts and on-call presence for production crews who are producing movies and shows coming soon to theaters or your TV!
